Edwin A. Cruz - Actor
I was born and raised on the outskirts of Tucson, Arizona, where at an early age the animals on my family’s ranch were a captive audience for many of my first performances. I was raised in a bilingual home where both Spanish and English were spoken. Being bilingual I grew up an avid fan of both Spanish and English films, theatre, and television, giving me a unique perspective and outlook on the world.
As a first generation American, I followed my parent’s plan for the “American Dream” and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a B.A. in Philosophy. After college, I decided to follow my first love, acting, and was cast in the production of the Imuris Theatre Company's Spanish adaptation of Sleeping Beauty playing the role of Prince Philip. I went on to perform in the Regional Theater production of Fiddler on the Roof at the Proscenium Theatre in Tucson.
In 2014, I was accepted into the prestigious New York City acting conservatory The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. Now in the Big Apple, my raw talent was fine tuned as I studied the Sanford Meisner technique that had produced such notable alumni Gregory Peck, Chris Noth, Robert Duvall, and Doris Roberts. While at The Neighborhood Playhouse, I appeared in The Great Escape Musical, written and directed by Douglas J. Cohen and The Iron Tongue Of Midnight, written by Tony Pennino, and directed by Ron Stetson.
I graduated from The Neighborhood Playhouse in May of 2016 and was quickly signed by one of New York’s top talent managers, Ingrid French of Ingrid French Management. Within weeks of signing with my new management firm, I booked a national print commercial for Budweiser and in June of 2016, I booked a national television commercial for the Panna Cooking App which aired on the History Channel, A&E, and Lifetime. I recently moved to Los Angeles where I signed with CESD Agency.
My journey has taken me from an Arizona ranch to Times Square, the crossroads of the world, to Los Angeles, the city of dreams. My strong family upbringing gave me humility and the desire to work hard, which, combined with my natural talent now honed by my schooling will inform and drive my career.
I currently live in Los Angeles, CA!
